Meet the Midwives
As the meaning of the word “midwife” suggests, our midwives are honored to be with women! Amma’s Midwives practice Homebirth and Community Based Care which is person- centered care delivered in your home and community. We believe in holistic midwifery care, offering more than just medical care, but also acknowledging the family’s holistic needs during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. The whole person needs to be cared for: physically, mentally, socially, spiritually. As midwives, we also strive to be holistic care providers who bring our whole selves to the space with honesty and love.

My own mother instilled in me a love and support for motherhood as she gave us her all. My journey to midwifery started when I was accepted into nursing school at Northwest University and learned knowledge that complimented my heart for caregiving. During a college internship in Uganda, I assisted midwives who exemplified how imperative midwifery skills were to save lives in any setting. The need for skilled birth workers in Uganda was immense, the lives of mothers and babies and the health of society at large depended upon it. I was compelled to start serving families through birth work starting in 2012.
I became a Certified Professional Midwife through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and am licensed in the state of Tennessee. Throughout my training, I had the incredible opportunity to serve in the births of incredible families, from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds throughout Middle Tennessee and Uganda.
I am the mother of four daughters and married to an organic farmer. Outside of birth work, I love mothering my sweetie pies. I also enjoy coaching my daughters’ soccer team, traveling, camping, yoga, reading books, sitting by any body of water, hiking, tea with friends, and indulging in a good show… with chocolate of course.

Holly has walked a slightly different path towards the call of midwifery. It was the challenging birth of her son in 2009, that gave her significant pause about how she had prepared for birth. Holly feels all birth is beautiful as is, but her own birth story was not without several layers of fear. From the moment her son was born, she was determined to learn deeply about the connections between fear and birth. Her first step into birth work was becoming a labor doula (2009). This path allowed her to become part of the joyful aspects of giving birth with education and advocacy. It was life changing and life healing.
In addition, she developed a childbirth education course to help families learn how to surrender to the fears that have been planted in the birth space. Additionally, teaching how to advocate and educate during the birth journey. This included pre- natal yoga in preparation for the physiological process of birth.
Holly became a Certified Professional Midwife through the North American Registry of Midwives. Outside of birth work, Holly enjoys spending time with her family on various adventures or simply at home playing games. Holly Loves hiking, rock climbing, and leaning into many outdoor landscapes. Holly also loves yoga and the study of movement.
